In a land-mark agreement, the SA and Victorian Governments have committed funding towards the removal of a dam wall near Benalla in Victoria. The project will result in the return of 24 billion litres of water to the Murray. While opposition has come from some farmers and local residents, the Victorian Minister for the Environment, John Thwaites believes the majority of Victorians support returning the area to its natural form.
