The Australian Conservation Foundation says Australia is missing out on carbon-reducing international business opportunities worth billions of dollars because the Federal Government refuses to join the global emissions trading system under the Kyoto Protocol.

The Wilderness Society and the NSW Nature Conservation Council have strongly criticised the New South Wales Coalition over newly launched native vegetation policy. The groups believe the new policy will lead to more land clearing and increase pressure on wildlife, river systems and the land.
