A report from the Australian Conservation Foundation, Greenpeace and the Climate Change Action Network claims a 25% renewable energy target set for 2020 would deliver 16,600 new jobs to Australians, generate $33 billion in new investment and create enough renewable electricity to power every home in Australia.

South Australia’s Water Security Minister Karlene Maywald has moved to reassure Adelaide residents that the city has at least eight months of water supply guaranteed by reservoirs. The Murray’s record low flows have become a cause for concern.

Forestry Tasmania has experienced a legal setback over its treatment of threatened species in logging areas. According to The Wilderness Society, this further undermines the Australian Forestry Standard (AFS). Despite recent approval from the UK Government, The Wilderness Society claims AFS certification provides no guarantee of legal or sustainable forestry.

A study comissioned by environemental groups has found that installing rainwater tanks is one of the most energy and cost effective ways to save water, more so than the construction of a desalination plant or a dam.
