$18,000 fine for stealing water

South Australian irrigator Graeme Fischer was fined $18,000 for stealing water from the Bremer River. The Department of Water, Land and Biodiversity Conservation fined Mr. Fischer and instructed him to remove the offending pumping equipment. Mr. Fischer was previously fined more than $2,000 for hindering compliance officers.
