Wheat farmers encouraged by steady rain
Planet Ark
After a few weeks of steady rain, wheat farmers in the Narrabri-Moree district of New South Wales are working around the clock to sow their seeds, hoping this year’s crops will produce one of the biggest yields on record. However other areas in the New South Wales grain-belt are still waiting for their share of the rain. Last year, the drought halved Australia’s wheat production and played a role in driving global wheat prices to an all-time high earlier this year.
