The cane toad invasion is gathering speed, say scientists, with the toads becoming larger and faster as they progress through the Northern Territory. Professor Rick Shine from the University of Sydney says toads at the invasion front are very big with long legs, enabling them to move quicker and further. He says cane toads approaching the border of Western Australian are capable of travelling at least one kilometre a night.
