Trees can prevent urban heatwave fatalities

Trees and waterways can be vital to mitigating the impacts of fatal heatwaves in cities, according to researchers. A national tree symposium held at Adelaide University has heard that vegetation and water have a localized cooling effect which is lost in urban areas covered with concrete and man made structures.
