Whale meat popular again in Japan’s schoolsLink to full story

The Age

A Kyodo news agency survey has exposed that almost 20% of Japanese schools are now serving cooked whale meat for student lunches at least once a year. The reappearance of whale meat on school menus is believed to have been made possible because Japan is steadily upping its catches of whales, the giants of the ocean it claims to hunt for scientific purposes, while pushing for an end to the international ban on commercial whaling.
